Mixed Chicks - Day 9 (actually it is the morning after Day 8)

Champ's First Day of 5th Grade

This was a crazy week.

Day 7 - I did not touch my hair, no wash, no rinse, no comb. I only ran out to walk the dog and return the red box video.

Day 8 - I am glad it's over as it was crazy with work, sneek-a-peek at my son's school, and a little last minute back-to-school shopping at Wal-Mart (where someone took it upon themselves to grab a pack of graph paper out of my shopping cart... really?!?!).  I did manage to get in a wash with the mixed chick's shampoo and I also used the deep conditioner. I towel dried and applied the leave-in-conditioner and silk.

Day 9 - Champ's first day of 5th grade. I rolled out of bed and clipped the top of my hair back and then went outside to take our annual set of photo's.  Since I was given strict orders by my son not to come over and hang out at the school today, I decided I would just shake my hair and go. I may spritz it with water and add a little silk today, but I think I can do without the leave in conditioner as I like it when it is really soft.

Mixed Chicks - Day 3 & 4

My weekend got a little busy with family, so here is a quick recap with no picture.

Day 3 - just like day 2 the only difference was that the water I rinsed my hair with came from the city of Atlanta.

Day 4 - I got a little lazy and slept in as I spent the weekend in the city with my daughter.

Expect more updates this week.

Mixed Chicks - Day 2

Today is day 2 of using my mixed chicks hair products.

I rinsed my hair in the shower (w/o shampooing) and I used the leave-in conditioner and silk

Today, I decided to let it air dry.

The end result is very similar to yesterday, a very loose curl / wave.

I am spending the night at Kristen's tonight and will take my products with me. We will see if the water in Atlanta makes any difference.

PS: Rather than bugging my friends & family with daily e-mails on my hair, I've decided to start blogging about it so they can read when they desire.

Mixed Chicks - Day 1

[Thursday, July 29th was actually Day 1]

I will only use the mixed chicks shampoo and deep conditioner when I need to strip, I think I will use the pantene curly 2 & 1 for normal washes.

Also, when I washed, I had my hair in 4 braided sections and then I combed through the deep condition with a shower comb (removing each braid).

After adding in the leave in conditioner and silk, I used the diffuser on the blow dryer (hanging my head upside down).

I think the end result is a much loose curl, actually a wave (when all along I thought my hair was curly).

I stepped outside of my box...

...or as my daughter said "I stepped outside of my house." In anycase, what I did today was not part of my normal routine. This may seem trivial once you read it, but you need to understand that as much as I love movies, I do not care for suspense, thriller, or horror films. Deciding to go and see Shutter Island was no easy task.

My initial desire to see the movie stemmed from listening to Regis and Kelly talk about it. They were discussing Jill Larson's role (from All My Children) and when I saw the clip, I had to go and see 'Opal' transformed. Armed with two AMC movie passes that I received for Christmas (thanks Nai Nai), my oldest daughter and I set off for the adventure.

I was on the edge of my seat throughout the movie and I will have to say that I was pleasantly surprised -- I thoroughly enjoyed the movie! It kept me guessing and entertained. At the end of the movie, I fell into my normal routine of staying through the credits (I am really not sure why everyone else leaves, you can learn a lot from the credits). Still in our seats, my daughter and I are discussing the movie and the twist at the end, when a lady that was seated a few rows up comes back and sits with us and joins in on the discussion.

I have to say, I am glad that I stepped outside of my box. The only regret I have is letting my daughter talk me out of dropping the top on my car on the way to the theater (it was in the 70's here today).

I'd love to hear your thoughts and opinions on the movie. Thanks for KeepinUpWKaren, until next time...
